summer "to-do" list

If you haven’t figured this out yet, I am a type A personality.  I’m the girl with the plan.  At the college I attend, we are required to take a strengths personality test in order to identify and utilize our top strengths in our schoolwork.  My top five strengths were:  Achiever, Competition, Discipline, Significance and Includer.  I might go into more detail later on, but this is just to let you know a little more about me and how I work.

All this to say that I love making lists (which is probably more than evident in my previous posts).  Therefore, I have made a “summer to-do list,” and I’d like to share it with you.

1.    Become a prayer warrior.  I’ve noticed lately that my prayer life has been more than lacking.  There’s always an excuse, whether it be time or circumstance.  This summer there will be no excuses.
2.    Find an internship and a job.  Check and check.  This summer I will be interning for a church news magazine while working at Belk department store.  I’m sure you’ll hear more about both.
3.    Start a blog.  :)
4.    Love myself.  This directly applies to my body.  It probably wouldn’t be bad if I loved the rest of myself a little less.  Throughout the summer, I will record this journey of self-love on this blog.
5.    Buy a bike.  This seems kind of strange, but I want to ride!  I love to run, but sometimes you need to mix up your exercise routine.  And maybe this is an exercise I can do with others.
6.    Write letters.  My friends happen to live all over the United States: Missouri, Texas, Illinois, Colorado, etc.  What better way to maintain friendships than through snail mail?  Everybody loves receiving letters!
7.    Buy a tankini (or 2) (or 3).  One year and 20 pounds ago, all I owned were bikinis.  I know this is a bad reason, but the increase in self-consciousness has also caused me to want to be more modest.
8.    Learn to cook.   I actually already started on this one.  Friday night I made healthy chicken-mushroom quesadillas and chewy oatmeal raisin cookies.  It was real good!
9.    Create a portfolio.  Sometime this summer I need to get all of my clips and graphic design work together and put it in a portfolio.  This will probably be the last thing crossed off my list.
10. Watch all the Harry Potter movies.  Until earlier this year, I had read all the books but I hadn’t seen any of the movies.  My boyfriend and I started watching them together, but we didn’t finish before he left for camp.  That means we will only have a week and a half to finish watching them after he gets back if we want to finish them before the final movie comes out.  Can you say Harry Potter marathon?

Well, this concludes my to-do list! It should be an exciting summer, and hopefully some fun things will be mixed in with these tasks.  Hopefully, God has some great things planned for me.

“For I know the plans I have for you," says the LORD. "They are plans for good and not for disaster, to give you a future and a hope.”
