t3 - the LBD

I don’t know what it is. Maybe I’ve been separated from my girlfriends too long. Maybe I’m just getting lazy. Or maybe this technology thing has gotten way out of hand. Whatever it is, I’ve developed a preference for online shopping.

There’s just something about relaxing on the couch after a long day of work in your comfiest clothes miles away from an actual dressing room that makes virtually putting clothes in your shopping cart that much better.

Not to mention you don’t have to walk from store to store, comparing prices and materials and fits. Everything is just a click away. I can put together outfits while barely lifting a finger.

And though I don’t remember the last time I have been to the mall, I’ve been on the prowl for the perfect LBD {little black dress} for the past month. It’s on my “classic style” list, and I know exactly what I want. But for weeks that solid black sheath dress with enough material to be tasteful for work but enough shape to be worthy of date night has eluded me.

Until now. I finally found “the one” on H&M’s brand new site. And when it finally arrived in the mail, the material and fit could not have been more perfect. Now here’s three ways I plan on wearing it, as well as three tips for the savvy online shopper.

#1 Work Wear

Dress – H&M / Blazer – Forever 21 {old} {similar} / Shoes – Payless  / Necklace – ILY Couture {sold out} {similar}

Jenny’s Tip – Always be sure to check the sizing chart. Usually in women’s sizes I am a 0-4, but at H&M I was a 6. I almost ordered before double-checking the chart, and I would have regretted it.

#2 Casual Friday

Dress – H&M / Scarf – Gift {similar} / Cardigan – Gap {old} {similar} / Boots – Just Fab

Jenny’s Tip – Before you return to your cart, visit the store’s return policy. You don’t want to jump through hoops of fire to return something that doesn’t fit, was the wrong color, etc.

#3 Date Night

Dress – H&M / Pearls – Target / Shoes – Payless {old} {similar}

Jenny’s Tip – You’ve picked out all your goodies, you’ve thought about it real hard and you’ve made your decision. But before you check out, Google “promo codes” for that store. You’ll be surprised what you find. I got 20% off my H&M dress, pulling the total under $30!

And I can’t end this post without thanking my photographer. My favorite fashionisto, sporting a basketball t-shirt, grungy Razorback shorts, argyle socks and royal blue tennis shoes. Can’t get more classy than that, ladies and gentlemen.

Do you have a favorite LBD? How do you like to style it? Or maybe you have some online shopping tips? Please share!

  1. I need to buy a little black dress! I have an event coming up for work and I would love to be a little classy! lol

    1. Well, I love mine, and H&M has several other styles and fits, too. I also found several that I liked at Target. I wore my LBD for the first time for a work event and it was perfect. :)
