#lovelifeproject

Well, hello, February. When did you get here?

Only yesterday it was January and I was making resolutions and planning out my year.

But, now you’re here and I realize how little progress I’ve actually made.

How easy it is to get discouraged. And with discouragement comes discontentment. And with discontentment comes self-pity and self-doubt. It’s a vicious cycle.

Dental school has been even tougher this semester. And the discouragement comes easier. And the discontentment feels stronger. And the cycle goes faster.

But, I have a project for you. An idea born from two revelations.

The first came from a conversation with a dear friend. We were talking about finding contentment despite our circumstances. I firmly believe that thankfulness breeds contentment - seeing beauty in the ordinary, finding hope in the mundane, loving the life God has provided.

The second came from this post by Jenna of Dearest Love. Not nearly as reflective, but I wanted to make a book for someone special who lives far away. However, I quickly realized how few Instagram pictures I had worth printing, and I began to wonder why…

I quickly decided that between days in the cubicle and nights on the living room couch, there wasn’t much beauty in my life to capture. But that can’t be true… God provides little moments every day for me to enjoy His creation and witness His love for me.

Whether that be an encouraging word from a friend or the sun setting on the river or a quiet morning in His Word, every day there is something to be thankful for - a reason to love life.

You make known to me the path of life; in Your Presence there is fullness of joy; at Your right hand are pleasures forevermore.
~Psalm 16:11

So, I’m challenging myself to find those reasons every day this month, and you can join me. A picture a day to remind me to open my eyes to the blessings around me, the little moments to thank God for and the million reasons to love life.

It’s the #lovelifeproject and you can follow my progress @jennyfish10. But I want to see your many reasons, too! So use the hashtag #lovelifeproject, and I’ll post my favorites at the end of the month.

To start us off, here’s my first picture of the month...

A hint of lace from a favorite sweater, an aztec scarf from a favorite friend... #itsthelittlethings #lovelifeproject #day1

  1. There really ARE always those little things of beauty that can bring a smile. Last few days I've been stuck at home with no car and it's been snowing like a maniac...but there's still plenty of work to keep me busy and reasons to smile. I think your little project is a great one!

  5. Thank you, Allison. It's so easy to miss out on these moments when you're busy, stressed or throwing a pity-party {like me}. Hopefully, this project will make me more intentional about being thankful!

  6. You are so right. And when you're focusing on all many, little, good things - the sucky things that are happening don't seem so big.
