things my husband says...

My husband is hilarious. I think all women say that, but mine actually is. Even when I’m so mad I don’t even want to look at him, he can have me laughing so hard I’m crying in seconds. It’s like a super power or something.

On the other hand, he’s also very quiet and introverted until you really get to know him. Moving to a new city has been rough. After about eight months, he’s finally starting to come out of his shell with our parish. They get to catch glimpses of his humor now and then.

But I sort of feel bad for his classmates who only get to see him in a classroom setting. They’re missing out on a real treasure. But, at the same time - more for me!

I’ve been keeping up with a list of all the crazy stuff Daniel has said since the very beginning of our marriage. I was going to make a quote book out of it - but let’s be honest - when am I going to get around to doing that?

So, instead, I’ll share with all of you. Here’s to hoping he doesn’t kill me for this! (In case you’re confused, I’m “J” and he’s “D.”)

D: You are so little and then you just become so big.
J: Are you calling me fat?
D: I’m just saying that you know how to occupy space.

J: You got something against Bob and Larry?
D: Yes, they should be alive and not in my salad.

J: Brush your teeth over the sink.
D: Do you SEE this Horcrux? {Points at sink.}
J: Do you even remember what that is?
D: It’s where Voldemort hides himself. It’s evil.

D: Ben Rector writes songs for me for you.
J: …
D: For me for you. We talk. Via email. And Facebook messages.
J: …
D: Ben Rector writes these songs for me for you.

D: No, I like it when you Pinterest. I like it when you Pinterest then bake me cookies.

D: You’re just using me for my good looks and laundry abilities.

D: I like to cook I think.
J: Oh yeah?
D: I did not say that out loud.

D: After making you really, really happy, my next favorite is to irritate and pester you.

J: {Goes to take picture.}
D: Should I smile or be serious or smile with my eyes and not my mouth?
J: {Camera sound.}
D: Nailed it.

D: It's better with chocolate I think. Shhhh... Don't tell you I said that.

J: Go get ready for bed.
D: I'm trying, but the en-dolphins!
D: {Dances, rolls on bed, jumps up and touches ceiling}
J: The what?
D: The en-dolphins you told me about.
J: Do you mean endorphins?

J: Someone's a cranky pants.
D: I know I was having such a good day and then I tried to jump over a puddle and I ripped my pants.

And the last one is funny because it happened the same exact day as this.

Maybe these are only funny because I know him and know us - but I still laugh when I read them. And maybe every wife is serious when she says her husband is funny because they have so many inside jokes that outsiders would never understand. Either way, I hope you enjoyed this tiny glimpse of what it’s like to be Mrs. Fish.

Who in your life makes you laugh the most?

  4. Too funny! I wrote a similar post about Jordan: http://www.theladyokieblog.com/2013/09/5-funny-things-ive-heard-jordan-say.html Our boys are funny. Or, at least WE think they are ;) Your #1 made me think of this time when we were dating and Jordan hugged me and then said I was so "large and dense." I'm sorry, what's that now?

  9. I just read that blog plus the four others on your embarrassing moment. My husband kept asking what I was laughing at. Large and dense, eh? Sounds like we both know how to occupy space.

  11. I think so, too.... Mine's never worn a bear costume, but he has dressed as a woman, Lady Gaga and whatever this is: https://scontent-a.xx.fbcdn.net/hphotos-ash3/t1.0-9/574639_3646188083015_1583272501_n.jpg
